The 2026 World Cup is over. Spain won! They beat Argentina 1-0 in extra time on Sunday, July 19, in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
This year, something new happened. For the very first time, World Cup winners get a special prize: a championship ring.
Championship rings are famous in American sports, like American football and basketball. Now FIFA — the group that runs the World Cup — is bringing this tradition to soccer too.
Spain’s captain and head coach got a special ring right after the game. Later, all 30 players and coaches on the winning team will get their own custom ring.
Each ring has the World Cup trophy on one side. The other side shows something special about Spain, the winning country.
FIFA is also making extra rings for fans to buy. About 2,000 fan rings will be available. FIFA has not said how much they will cost yet.
